Payroll Assistant

We are recruiting an experienced Payroll Assistant to complete a 12 month fixed term contract for a well regarded business in Warrington. You will be joining a team of 4  who are collectively responsible for delivering an accurate and timely payroll service that meets the needs of over 10,000 staff.



  • Processing 1 Lunar Paid payroll and a monthly payroll from start to completion of payroll
  • Responsible for the payroll inbox, where you will be assisting the Team with email and telephone queries
  • Inputting and processing sick pay, Maternity pay, Parental leave for main payroll
  • Gain Full knowledge of T & C’s and other payrolls you are responsible for processing
  • Checking new Starter information input by Administrators
  • Processing New Starter documents i.e. P45 and New Starter checklist
  • Checking leaver information input by Administrators
  • Scanning documents to employee records
  • Issuing Parental Leave letters
  • Completing Mortgage/Tenancy request for information forms
  • Completing information requests forms from Government ie DWP, Council Tax, EQ1
  • Processing AEO orders
  • Ensuring compliant with payroll legislation and GDPR


Experience/ Key skills:

  • A proven track record in a payroll post, including the use of a computerised Payroll System
  •  A detailed knowledge Payroll Legislations
  •  A recognised payroll qualification or qualification by experience
  • Ability to deal with sensitive matters professionally and confidentially
  • Good communication skills
  • Accuracy and keen eye for detail
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • To be able to work as part of a team
